The Indiana Fever's early exit from the 2026 WNBA Playoffs has fans worried about the future of the dynamic duo of Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell.

Mitchell's emotional admission about receiving unnecessary hate due to playing with Clark has the rumor mill stirred up about the superstar guard potentially leaving the Fever in free agency.

While Clark has hit out at her fans for using her name to spew hate towards her teammates, Jemele Hill recently explained why the 3x WNBA All-Star can't simply leave the Fever.

Many have started to wonder if Clark demanding a trade could help reset her WNBA career with a different team.

Speaking of which, Hill showed sympathy for Clark's current situation, but explained why she can't abandon the Fever.

"It's a really tough position for her to be in. And though she is not a rookie, she's not necessarily the most experienced player. She's still learning on the fly.

"And I know she didn't anticipate becoming this avatar of hatred for some people. And so she's in a rough spot," Hill said on the 'Flagrant and Funny' podcast.

She continued, "I'm sure she wants the Indiana fans to know that she appreciates and loves them, and loves that they have created – sans the racism and all that other stuff – an intimidating atmosphere in that arena because it is independent of the shenanigans."

"It's a tough place to play, and I'm sure she wants that part of it. She doesn't want the other stuff, but I don't know at this point if they could be separated," Hill concluded.

Clark is known for her loyalty, as she proved it during her collegiate career after spending four years with the Iowa Hawkeyes when she could have left for a better team.

Even with the Fever, Clark is yet to witness major success in the postseason, and her fans calling out her teammates is only making her life tougher.

But even then, Hill doesn't see Clark leaving Indiana anytime soon. This could result in the likes of Mitchell being pushed out instead.
