Two weeks ago, Jaden Baugh and Floridapicked up one of their biggest home wins in recent years, knocking off Trinidad Chambliss and Mississippi in Gainesville.
The victory thrust Jon Sumrall's squad into the conversation as a legitimate contender for the SEC title and, potentially, the College Football Playoff.
Two weeks later, the Gators' outlook has changed dramatically. After a road loss to Missouri last week,No. 15 Florida suffered a second consecutive conference defeat Saturday, falling 38-19 to South Carolina at The Swamp. As a result, a trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game now appears increasingly unlikely.
South Carolina-Florida final score: Highlights from Gamecocks' SEC road win over Gators
Tied 7-7 after the first quarter, the Gators were outscored by the Gamecocks 31-12 over the course of the final three quarters. Baugh struggled once again in Florida's offense, as the 6-foot-1 running back recorded just 59 rushing yards on 15 carries.
The loss for the Gators comes at a poor time, as the Gamecocks entered Saturday's matchup riding a three-game losing streak in SEC play and head coach Shane Beamer's sitting on a hot seat.
Given the unexpected outcome in Gainesville and how dominant a performance the Gamecocks showed, those on college football social media did not hold back — as all passionate fans do on Saturdays this time of the season — with their thoughts on the Gators dropping back-to-back losses:
